Our rug cleaning process is like sending your rug to a spa! Whether we’re cleaning a delicate, antique Oriental or a contemporary area rug, our exclusive process safely and gently revives the color, luster and beauty of your rug.

What separates Cornerstone Chem-Dry from other rug cleaners is our specialized equipment that safely and gently flushes away the vast amounts of soil trapped deep in rugs without abrasive scrubbing, harsh chemicals or power spraying that can damage fine rugs permanently.

We have been cleaning Oriental rugs for over 17 years here at Cornerstone Chem-Dry with exceptional results! In 2009, we added a full Oriental rug cleaning plant to our warehouse in order to clean your specialty rugs more thoroughly. Our clients that have had their specialty rugs cleaned by us for many years are even more impressed with the cleaning now that we utilize a deep cleaning plant. We use a very thorough, yet gentle cleaning method to take care of your beautiful rugs. We will handle with care every type of rug weather hand knotted, hand tufted, or machine made. Your rug maybe made out of any number or blend of fibers like wool, silk, siècle, cotton, nylon, and olefin. Your rug may be a Persian, Turkish, Indian, Chinese, or Tibetan Rug at Cornerstone Chem-Dry we can handle and care for any of your rugs.

Step 1: Estimate and Pick up

When you call to inquire about our cleaning process for your rugs, a trained technician will be sent to your home or office to measure and pre-inspect your rug and provide you with a cleaning estimate. It is then delivered to our state of the art Oriental rug cleaning facility.

Step 2: Check-in at our Facility

When your rug arrives at our facility, it is carefully inspected for spots and stains, soiling conditions, wear patterns, repair needs and other areas of concern such as pet odors, etc. by one of our Rug Professionals. We then measure your rug and determine the exact cost for service. Our staff will call you with the exact price before beginning any work.

Step 3: Rug Dusting

We use a special machine to dust both sides of your rugs. Did you know that a rug can hold up to 87 pounds of dust and dirt that is not removed by regular vacuuming? We use a gentle, industry approved method for removing this debris before cleaning your rugs.

The next step in your rug’s spa treatment is a vigorous “massage” to remove dry soils.

Dry soil removal is critically important to restoring the appearance and maintaining the life of your rug. A respected study by vacuum cleaner manufacturer The Eureka Company determined that a 9 x 12 rug can hold up to 87 pounds of dry soil before looking dirty! And those deeply embedded dry soils are abrasive and saw away at rug fibers like sandpaper every time you walk across your rug!

At Cornerstone Chem-Dry, we remove the dry soil from deep in the foundation of your rug with a Rug Duster that shakes loose all the dry particulate soil that has accumulated in the rug—even crusty soils that have been embedded for years! There’s simply no comparison to conventional rug beating.

Pounds of dry soils are safely removed from the back of the rug without any risk of damage to the rug, fibers or fringe!

Step 4: Cleaning, Immersion and rinsing

Our rug professionals will test your rug for colorfastness before proceeding with any immersion cleaning. They will also determine which cleaning method will be most beneficial for your rug. Our cleaning is determined based on each rug and what method will be the safest and most effective for it. We use safe, non-toxic cleaners on your rugs, just as we do in your homes. We will be cleaning your rug several times, until the rug is completely clean.

The spa treatment continues as your rug is placed into our unique wash tub for a swim. The wash tub uses a special, velocity appropriate star paddle to provide gentle agitation that mimics age old hand washing techniques.

As your rug swims in the churning water, soils are removed and the appearance of your rug is renewed without the use of brushes, power spraying, scrubbing or other mechanical agitation that can damage rug fibers.

Special cleaning agents are added to aid in the cleaning process and to insure that colors are restored to their very best appearance and that dye stability or dye transfer is never a problem.

This system is so safe that we can clean even priceless heirlooms and sensitive foundation antiques with complete confidence!

Step 5: Drying your rug

Most rugs are air dried and some also receive a little help from Mother Nature with some gentle air movers. Rugs are either dried flat or hanging on a special drying rack, based on the needs of each individual rug. Air is gently circulated to speed the drying process.

Step 6: Rug combing, brushing and fluffing

As the rug dries, we use combing, brushing and / or pile fluffing techniques for the most luxurious results.

Step 7: Rug fringe cleaning and grooming

Once the rug is dry, we groom the fringes by putting the final rug cleaning touches as well as hand combing and trimming the edges.

Step 8: Vacuuming and final inspection

After we clean and dry your rug, we will vacuum it one last time and perform a final inspection to make sure it is ready to be delivered back to your home! We won’t re-deliver it to we are 100% satisfied with the cleaning – we won’t take it to your home unless we feel like our mom’s would be proud of the work!

Step 9: Protectant application

Most rugs are not protected initially and we highly recommend you do protect your cleaning and rug investment by applying a protectant to your rugs. We will discuss this with you on our initial call.

Step 10: Delivery

We will roll and wrap your rug for you and then re-deliver to your home or office. Turn around time is usually 10-14 days.

Our rug cleaning process is perfect for the total removal of pet odors caused by pet urine as well as animal hair and body oils. Cornerstone Chem-Dry applies a special product to affected areas called P.U.R.T. This unique treatment breaks down the pet oils and the urine crystals and odor causing bacteria that feed on them, neutralizing the odor. Our total immersion cleaning process then flushes these contaminants from the rug for complete odor removal.
